About JAAR

Jorge Alberto Aguilar Rojas (JAAR) was born in Mexico City in June 1987. The son of Argelia Rojas and Juan Carlos Breceda, two of Mexico’s renowned artists.  Jorge studied Art History at Casa Lamm Cultural Center Workshop of Collaborative Engraving at the Museum of Engraving of Zacatecas. JAAR also studied engraving, painting and drawing at the Academy of San Carlos UNAM.

JAAR represents the country in various parts of the world, recently finished an exhibition in Dubai. He is an artist from an early age which culminates in his own style, abstract, colorful that steals the viewer's sight.

In July 2023 JAAR attended the Annecy Festival, a festival in France focused on artistic creation in animation, this year Mexico was the guest country. This trip was of the utmost importance for his artistic training. He will be moving in 2024 to London to finish his academic degree, and after that will move to France to do a master's degree in animation at the Gobelins Institute in Paris. During his time in France JAAR had the opportunity to meet internationally important characters, such as the creator of Nimona, a new Netflix movie, ND. Stevenson.

“My encounter with all the personalities from the animation world made my perspective of art drastically change 180 degrees. My new artistic projects will include making my paintings have movement” (JAAR, 2023).

“My life as an artist is gradually evolving from traditional media to the integration of digital media, preparing for the creation of a future where technology is a key part of artistic creation” (JAAR, 2023).

JAAR has named his new artistic form "hyper surrealism-neo baroque", full of fury, joy and magic that combine imagination with the firm pulse of his hands when creating his artistic work.

Jorge Alberto Aguilar Rojas (JAAR) nació en la Ciudad de México en junio de 1987. Hijo de Argelia Rojas y Juan Carlos Breceda, dos de los artistas más reconocidos de México.

Estudió Historia del Arte en el Centro Cultural Casa Lamm y Taller de Grabado Colaborativo en el Museo del Grabado de Zacatecas. También estudió grabado, pintura y dibujo en la Academia de San Carlos UNAM.

JAAR representa al país en varias partes del mundo, recientemente terminó una exposición en Dubai. Es un artista desde temprana edad que culmina en un estilo propio, abstracto, colorido que roba la vista del espectador.

En Julio 2023, JAAR asistió al Festival de Annecy, festival en Francia enfocado a la creación artística en animación, donde este año México fue el país invitado. Este viaje fue de suma importancia para su formación artística.

En 2024 se mudará a Londres para terminar su carrera académica y posteriormente a Francia para hacer una maestría en animación en el Instituto Gobelins en París.

Durante su reciente paso por Francia, JAAR tuvo la oportunidad de conocer a personajes de importancia internacional, como el creador de Nimona, una nueva película de Netflix, ND. Stevenson. “Mi encuentro con todas las personalidades del mundo de la animación hizo que mi perspectiva del arte cambiara drásticamente 180 grados. Mis nuevos proyectos artísticos incluirán hacer que mis pinturas tengan movimiento” (JAAR, 2023).

“Mi vida como artista está evolucionando gradualmente de los medios tradicionales a la integración de los medios digitales, preparándome para la creación de un futuro donde la tecnología es una parte clave de la creación artística” (JAAR, 2023).

JAAR ha bautizado a su nueva forma artística como "Híper surrealista neobarroco", llena de furia, alegría y magia que combinan la imaginación con el pulso firme de sus manos a la hora de crear su obra artística.
