Go to the shopJo was born in Guelph, Ontario where she was raised in a all-Italian neighbourhood. Both parents were extremely talented in the arts so Jo was encouraged to be creative at an early age. Now living in Elora, Ontario, Jo has her private studio on the property where she has lived since 1978. Working strictly in clay started in 2001 throwing pots under the guidance of Eleanor Hendriks and Geoffrey Stevens , two professional ceramic artists respected in their field. Several years later she discovered sculpting and never looked back. It seemed a perfect fit for someone that has studied faces all her life. "The face tells a lot about someone. There is such diversity in faces - race, expression, emotion." Jo also finds that the challenge of working three-dimensionally has an added design consideration because the object will be experienced from more than one side, giving life to the pieces.
