This sculptural work of wire and enamel refers to Greek mythology. It is said that when Perseus was sailing with the head of Medusa, while crossing the corals of the Red Sea, a drop from her head fell on them, splashing the algae. Hence comes the legend that corals were formed with the blood of Medusa herself.
